The document states, "To appoint Igor Martynov Igor Alexandrovich as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Burkina Faso."
The Russian Embassy resumed its activities in Ouagadougou in December 2023 after a hiatus of 31 years. Putin had outlined plans to reopen Russian embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea during the plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit. He underscored that this move would serve as a tangible and practical step towards significantly enhancing cooperation with African nations in political, business, humanitarian, cultural, and tourism realms.
