Russia and Syria may sign a new agreement on trade and economic cooperation

Russia and Syria may sign a new version of the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation in December, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said at a press conference following talks with the Syrian side.

"We have now prepared a new version of the agreement, which we sent to the Syrian side in July. Today we discussed the state of readiness of this agreement. I hope that during my next trip in December, we will sign this agreement, and it will determine our main points of interaction in all areas in the near future, " Borisov said.

According to him, Russia and Syria have developed partnership and friendly relations. "We are trying to extend the success achieved in the military and political sphere to the recovery of the Syrian economy," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Borisov also recalled that in the framework of the high-level Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission, the parties signed road maps for the restoration of various sectors of the Syrian economy, primarily for the restoration of energy infrastructure, back in 2018. "Today we discussed the issues of updating these events," he added.
