Cooperation with countries ready for dialogue is becoming a priority for Russian diplomacy - MFA

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held the meeting of the foreign ministry board on Wednesday to discuss the main tasks of Russian foreign policy at the current stage of development of international relations, the diplomatic department said in a statement issued.

"In the conditions of growing contradictions in relations with unfriendly states, the priority of Russian diplomacy becomes all-round building of long-term, sustainable mutually beneficial partnerships with countries and their associations, which show a constructive attitude to developing a dialogue with Moscow," the statement reads.

"The board noted that the situation in the world has been changing profoundly in recent years. There is the desire of the US and its allies to prevent the objective processes of establishing a fair democratic world order, to weaken alternative centers of economic development and political influence, to subordinate all to their dictates," stated the report of the MFA. - "The result of this policy is the weakening of mechanisms of global governance and undermining the international law. All spheres of international relations are subject to crisis phenomena, and the possibilities of diplomacy as a means of coordinating the interests of the states are seriously limited by the low level of confidence of the leading powers in each other."

The ministry pointed out that the task of adapting the international system to multipolar realities, including overcoming existing challenges to security and world development, is especially important. "The increasing role of collective work in the UN, CSTO, SCO, BRICS, EEU and G20 is noted in this regard," added the foreign ministry.

In this context, as reported in the diplomatic mission, the meeting considered the issue of updating the regulatory framework of foreign policy activities, including through the prism of the ongoing work on the new foreign policy concept of Russia.
