Russia appreciates Turkey's will to seek compromise to resolve the most difficult issues, Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov how Russian President Vladimir Putin now sees Russian-Turkish relations and whether Turkey can be called one of Russia's main allies.
"Undoubtedly, Turkey is a very important partner of the Russian Federation, a strategic partner of the Russian Federation," Peskov replied.
The Russian President's press secretary clarified that the two countries have close cooperation on almost all regional issues, in particular on the work of the Russian-Turkish monitoring center on Karabakh.
"You know that interaction on Syria is very active and despite the difficult moments that happened in Syria, the two presidents always managed to find a compromise," Peskov added.
"We appreciate the political will to find compromise even in difficult situations of our partners," he said.
Peskov added that there is also a large complex of trade and economic relations, and called this cooperation "the main foundation" of Russia-Turkey relations. "You know that we are talking about long-term projects and cooperation in the field of energy. The complex is really very large, and we are talking about a real partnership, a mutually beneficial partnership," he concluded.
