The escalation of the Middle East crisis is worsening due to Israel's aggressive and militaristic approach, bolstered by US support, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“The situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. This is a direct consequence of Israel's aggressive policies and Washington's insistence on monopolizing mediation efforts at the expense of consensus-based UN Security Council resolutions,” Lavrov remarked.
He criticized Israel's pursuit of security at the expense of other regional nations, calling it a counterproductive approach that risks fostering long-term discord with the Arab world. Lavrov emphasized that resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is crucial for stabilizing the entire region, including Lebanon.
“The next step in addressing the crisis must involve creating conditions for implementing the two-state solution,” Lavrov said. He underlined the importance of prioritizing the perspectives of regional states rather than imposing external agendas, concluding, “Efforts should focus on the region’s voices, not those dictating terms from across the ocean.”
