Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will travel to Dushanbe on June 4–5 to take part in a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of Government, the Russian Cabinet’s press service announced.
The meeting will focus on key issues related to expanding cooperation among CIS countries in trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
Several key documents are expected to be approved, including:
A Development Concept for Cooperation in the Light Industry Sector
A Concept for Harmonizing National Air Traffic Management Systems
A Cooperation Concept in Public Health
An Agreement on Cooperation in the Development of Heavy Engineering Industries
Participants are also set to adopt a Regulation on the CIS Volunteer Forum, establishing a legal framework for the development of volunteerism in the region, and to update a 2007 Regulation on the Council of Heads of State and Public Broadcasting Organizations.
In addition, a CIS Medal “For the Development of Tourism in the CIS” will be established, to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to key tourism projects, initiatives, and routes within the region.
The meeting agenda also includes approval of the Main Directions and Activities for Developing a Joint Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Monitoring and Assessment System among CIS defense ministries through 2030.
As part of the interstate program on Rehabilitation of Areas Affected by Uranium Mining, leaders will consider funding additional work in 2025 to eliminate newly identified radioactive hotspots at the “Tuyuk-Suu” and “Dalnee” tailing sites in Kyrgyzstan.
Another item up for discussion is the Regulation on Principles for Forming and Operating a Unified Military Communications System for the armed forces of CIS member states. The document aims to enhance coordination and secure communication capabilities among the region’s militaries.
