Moscow is watching the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict very closely and is extremely concerned about what is happening, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"We are now watching very closely how events are developing. We share with the whole world the extreme concern," the Kremlin spokesman said, referring to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. "As much as possible initiatives are being taken by the Russian side, our territory is also offered for direct contacts, [efforts are being made] within the framework of the Quartet," he recalled.

"We now call on the parties to the conflict - Israel and Palestine - for restraint and believe that all parties should be extremely restrained in their statements and utterances, so as not to pour fuel on the fire," Peskov said.
