Russian and Egyptian diplomats exchange assessments of terrorist threats

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov and Egyptian First Deputy Foreign Minister Hamdi Sanad Loza discussed the fight against global and regional terrorist threats in the context of the pandemic at a meeting in Cairo on Wednesday.


"The sides exchanged assessments of the state of global and regional terrorist threats, taking into account the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation through relevant ministries and agencies," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.


Smolenskaya Square pointed out that special attention was paid to the problems of suppressing activities of foreign terrorist fighters and international anti-terrorist cooperation within the UN framework.


The next meeting of the Russian-Egyptian working group on combating terrorism will be held in Moscow in 2022.
