Iran's intention to begin enriching uranium to 60% confirms the urgency of restoring full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, said on Wednesday.
"Iran's intention to begin enriching uranium to 60 percent reaffirms the urgency of fully restoring the JCPOA as the only viable solution to bring the Iranian nuclear program back within the agreed parameters and ensure the lifting of US anti-Iranian sanctions," Ulyanov wrote on Twitter.
The Russian Permanent Representative also said that he met with the head of the Iranian delegation, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, ahead of the upcoming April 15 meeting of the Joint Commission on the JCPOA. "A useful conversation took place that allowed us to compare notes on all the main issues in the search for a full reinstatement of the nuclear deal," he added.
Ulyanov said April 13 that members of the Joint Commission of Iran and the international "five" (Germany, France, Britain, China, Russia) will discuss the issue of uranium enrichment in Iran to the level of 60% on April 15.
As Araghchi stated, Tehran will start enriching uranium to 60% starting Wednesday. Kazem Gharib Abadi, Iran's Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, noted that the Iranian side would be able to receive uranium enriched up to 60% next week.
