The powerful earthquake in Turkey affected 321 people, six were killed

The victims of a powerful earthquake in Izmir in western Turkey were at least six people, 321 were injured, the Agency for Emergency Situations and Natural Disasters reported.


Turkish seismologists estimate the magnitude of this earthquake at 6.6. The epicenter was located in the region of Seferihisar city. At least 20 buildings collapsed in Izmir. About 70 people have already been removed from under the rubble.


Earthquakes with magnitude up to 6.9 were felt also on Greek islands. On Samos island, a part of the church collapsed, and one person was injured. In addition, the earthquake has caused a small tsunami, the coastal streets of Seferihisar have been flooded.


According to the Russian embassy in Ankara, there is no information about the Russians among the victims, no one has applied to the diplomatic mission for help. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, in Izmir now there can be no more than a hundred Russian tourists.
