General secretaries of several major international organizations—including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Union State of Russia and Belarus—will take part in the Victory Day parade on May 9. This was announced by Yuri Ushakov, aide to the President of Russia, during a briefing.
Ushakov noted that invitations were extended to the leadership of numerous international institutions. “Also invited and confirmed to attend the [Victory] parade and related celebrations are the secretaries-general of the SCO, CIS, EAEU, CSTO, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Union Commission, the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the president of the New Development Bank [BRICS], and others,” he stated.
