Iranian parliament vows to respond to drone attack on Isfahan site

The Iranian side will not leave unanswered the attack on the defense ministry facility in Isfahan, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, a member of Iran's parliamentary commission for foreign policy and national security, told RIA Novosti.

"The attack on Isfahan will not go unanswered," Meshkini said when asked whether Iran will respond to Podolyak's statement hinting at Kiev's possible involvement in the drone attack in Isfahan.

According to him, Ukraine now does not allow itself more blatant outbursts against Iran, because it knows what kind of response it will get from Tehran.

"They are very afraid. Because we don't joke with anyone. <...> In our opinion, they did not say anything surprising. It is not a surprise to us that the Ukrainian government is taking this position, because it just has to take a position that is consonant with the hegemony of the West," the Iranian official stressed.

Finally, when asked which side Tehran might take in a possible conflict with Ukraine, the Iranian official concluded by saying that "the era of Western domination is over," so Iran "definitely will not take its side."

On the night of Sunday, January 29, there was a massive explosion in Isfahan, a city in central Iran. The country's defense ministry later reported a failed attempt to attack a military facility using quadcopters with explosives.

Air defense shot down one of the drones, and the other two fell into defensive traps and exploded. The media reported on possible US and Israeli involvement in the incident. According to the Iranian Security Forces, the manufacturer of the drones has been identified, but the company has not yet been named.
