The process of peaceful demarcation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan should be brought to its logical conclusion, and Russia is ready to help, if the parties show interest. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at a briefing on Thursday.
"We call on the Kyrgyz and Tajik allies to strictly comply with the agreements reached. It is necessary to bring the process of peaceful delimitation between the two countries to its logical conclusion," she said. - "We confirm the readiness of the Russian Federation to assist, if the sides are interested, including with expertise, in establishing lasting peace and security in the border areas of the two brotherly states".
On June 5, following a meeting of the joint State Commission on Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the parties agreed on a peaceful resolution of the situation on the joint border and on the withdrawal from it of all units, except for regular border guards.
