Lebanon appreciates the efforts of the Russian leadership and President Vladimir Putin personally to peacefully resolve the situation in the Middle East, the republic's ambassador to Russia, Chawki Bou Nassar, said Monday at an online conference marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

"We appreciate the efforts of Russia, the Russian leadership and Vladimir Putin personally [in the Middle East settlement]," he said.

The diplomat said Lebanon also welcomes the Russian authorities' dialogue with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, as well as Russia's increasing role in the Middle East Quartet to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

"We make an appeal to all forces in the world, to the great powers, to the UN, to Russia, to a friendly state, to support the efforts [for a settlement in Palestine]," the Lebanese ambassador stressed.

He noted that today all Arab peoples must unite their efforts to establish peace in the region. "The Arab peoples are peace-loving peoples. We, all Arabs, would not want any wars and aggression in the region, but in the current circumstances we must unite all our forces, our efforts, we must develop our cooperation and fight to ensure the dignified existence of all states," the diplomat summarized.
