Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov presented his book on Russian cooperation with Egypt.

The event was attended by Arab ambassadors in Moscow, Russian diplomats and orientalists.

Bogdanov said the book was a monograph based on his doctoral dissertation. The Russian edition was first published by MGIMO Publishing House three years ago. Now the book has been translated into Arabic and published in Egypt. "I must say, I am very pleased that the first person who received this book and even asked me to sign it was Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who was on a visit to Moscow. He received a copy in Arabic here," he said.

According to Bogdanov, the Egyptian foreign minister made a remark to him at the time. "He said the title is wrong because it says 'Moscow - Cairo: The Falls and Rises of Cooperation.' The word " falls" should be crossed out. There were only ups, but sometimes there was such a smooth development," he shared. Bogdanov expressed full agreement with the Egyptian minister's opinion, noting that there are periods when relations are more actively developing and moments when ties are put on pause. "There are historical ties between our peoples," he pointed out. -"Objectively, of course, there is mutual sympathy".

In turn, the Egyptian ambassador in Moscow urged all those present to be sure to read the book. "This is the opinion of an outstanding diplomat who has rightly witnessed the development of relations between our countries," he stressed. According to Nasr, relations between Moscow and Cairo have gone through different periods, but both sides have always demonstrated a desire to understand each other and get to know the partner's culture, history and civilization. "Despite the differences in the cultures of our peoples, if we look deeply, we see that there are very many similarities between our countries in terms of confronting the external threats that both of our countries reflect, and the desire of both sides for development, for progress. This shows that the Russian character and the Egyptian character are similar in many ways," the ambassador concluded.

In 2005-2011, Bogdanov served as Russian ambassador to Egypt and Russian plenipotentiary representative to the League of Arab States. Ph.D. in history, the topic of his dissertation was "The Transformation of Relations between Russia and Egypt (1991-2011).
