Iran and Russia sign memorandum of understanding on auto exports

Iran and Russia signed a $300 million memorandum of understanding on car exports, the Iranian Fars news agency reported Monday, citing the head of the Iranian Auto Parts Manufacturers Association.


"Russia will become another buyer of cars assembled in the territory of the Islamic Republic," he said. - "Our countries have already signed a memorandum of understanding worth $300 million."


According to the agency, Iran already supplies cars of its own production to Azerbaijan and Armenia. In addition, the first batch of cars assembled on the territory of the Islamic Republic, was sent to Venezuela, its volume is 1 thousand vehicles. 


On September 28 Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov said that the Iranian car companies show interest to the Russian market. Karimov emphasized that the Russian side will consider the initiatives of Iranian partners as their proposals and ideas become more concrete. 


On November 16, the head of the Avtovaz concern, Maxim Sokolov, told reporters on the sidelines of the Transport of Russia forum that the company was studying Iran's proposal to jointly produce cars.
