The First Russian-Egyptian Youth Forum finished its work in Kazan.
Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World", Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Farit Mukhametshin took part in the work of the Forum.
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World" noted the importance of relations between Russia and Egypt, which, according to Mukhametshin, have reached an entirely new level within the framework of the cross-year of humanitarian cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Arab Republic of Egypt, which started on May 4.
"I would like to emphasize the high role of Russian-Egyptian relations, the nature of which is determined by the Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation signed by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi in Sochi in October 2018. This treaty came into force in January of this year. Our relations are of a strategic nature, Egypt is among Russia's key partners in the Middle East and the African continent," Mukhametshin said.
He also mentioned the important role of the GSV "Russia-Islamic World" in developing Russia's relations with Middle Eastern countries. "The mission of the Group is to develop Russia's relations with Muslim countries through the instruments of public diplomacy, to help establish a broad partnership in the interaction of cultures and civilizations, to prevent the spread of extremist ideas in society, to promote traditional moral ideals, cultural and spiritual heritage and protect them," said Mukhametshin.
The forum's program includes plenary sessions, road map development, meetings with the expert community as well as a cultural and sporting program.
Within the Forum's program, the participants will discuss the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Russian and Egyptian youth in such areas as youth entrepreneurship and innovation, volunteerism, creative industries and public diplomacy. The result of the work will be a roadmap of joint bilateral actions with specific projects, successfully implemented projects in Tatarstan will also be proposed for scaling within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
