Russia is ready to help establish a direct dialogue between Israel and Palestine, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday at a press conference following talks with Israeli foreign minister Yair Lapid.

"We welcome the normalization of Israel's ties with a number of Arab states, we support the continuation of this process. We believe it should help promote a comprehensive Middle East settlement. We confirmed Russia's readiness to continue facilitating direct dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians both through bilateral channels and as a member of the quartet of international mediators," he said.

Lavrov added that in talks with his Israeli counterpart, they noted the need to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 2254, which reaffirmed support for Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as the legitimate right of Syrians to determine their own destiny. "We noted the importance of providing Syrians with urgent humanitarian assistance, assistance in rebuilding the civil infrastructure destroyed by the war, which is prevented by the illegitimate unilateral sanctions of our Western colleagues and which contradicts the resolution that was adopted in July this year at the UN Security Council," the minister stressed.
