Lavrov to meet foreign partners on SPIEF sidelines

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where he will hold several meetings with foreign partners, official spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Wednesday.


"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate on behalf of the Russian foreign ministry. A number of his bilateral contacts with foreign partners are scheduled," the diplomat said.


Zakharova noted that many foreign participants from more than 120 countries will attend this year's forum. "We expect certain head of states and prime ministers, industry ministers, public and political figures, parliamentary leaders, heads of international organizations, major companies, representatives of expert and academic circles, as well as mass media," the official representative added.


SPIEF is the largest economic forum in Russia. This year the forum will take place on June 14-17. The plenary session of the forum will be traditionally attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The labor market will be one of the key topics at the forum.
