Mohammad Jinna: Halal today is not an option, but a necessity

19 May 2022

The Chairman of the World Halal Day (UNWHD) Mohammad Jinna began his speech at the opening of the XIII International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022" with a message in the ancient Tomil language. By this he emphasized the international character of the event. He said that in today's world, halal products are in demand even among non-Muslims because halal means quality and environmental friendliness.

"In this regard, there is a great responsibility on the producers of halal products," Mohammad Jinna said, adding that today there are ongoing activities to develop halal insulin and vaccines.

"World Halal Day was first held in 2014 in Singapore. It has been held in subsequent years, even in 2020, during the pandemic. Next year, 2023, the event will take place again in Singapore. I invite all those present to see this economic miracle with their own eyes! I thank the leadership of the republic and the organizers for such a wonderful platform, where halal producers have gathered.

At the session of the summit, Mohammed Jinna said that the Muslim industry is growing by the day. "We all consume $6 trillion worth of products and cosmetics. Non-Muslim countries understand that halal is not a religious component, but a quality standard. In Singapore, 90% of the food is halal certified."

Mohammed Jinna also noted that Tatarstan could become a halal hub in the future. "Tatarstan is a good platform for connecting Muslim and non-Muslim countries. After all, halal offers universal values - environmental friendliness, quality, etc. The halal industry can grow from $3 trillion to $10 trillion. I appeal to all participants of KazanSummit, we must create a halal-hub in Tatarstan!"
