Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Thursday, suggested creating joint ventures in the military-industrial complex.

"As for the further development of closer relations, we should develop more joint ventures, including in the military-industrial complex. The territory is ready, you have an overabundance of all this business - let's put some of it there, we will produce both for Russia and for ourselves, develop industry," Nazarbayev said.

He noted that Kazakhstan as a result of industrialization policy is well advanced in the processing of products. Nazarbayev also suggested the development of industrial cooperation with Russia in the face of sanctions from Western countries.

In addition, the first president of Kazakhstan, as honorary chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, advocated expanding the membership of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). "We need to strengthen this organization. We need others to be here - our neighbors Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, they should be here, and we also need to work with the Turkmens," Nazarbayev said.

The EEU includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba have observer status within the organization.

Strategic partnership

Nazarbayev said the republic is committed to a strategic partnership with Russia.

"I believe that Russian-Kazakh cooperation is an example for all other states. All 30 years after the collapse of the [Soviet] Union, we have never had any disagreements, conflicts, because Kazakhstan is determined to always be close and fulfill the agreements on our strategic partnership, eternal friendship. And this is in the interests of both states," Nazarbayev said.

He noted that he recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "We consulted, we talked, we synchronized our watches, we will work as before," the first president of Kazakhstan said.

Nazarbayev stressed that Kazakhstanis are grateful for Russia's support. "For all these years of support, we have solved the most complicated issues of borders between our countries, including in the Caspian Sea. And in subsequent years we have always felt the shoulder, and we have always been in line with Russia's policy both in the region and in the world, that's how we will continue," the first president of Kazakhstan explained.
