26 November

Turkish security forces have detained 54 individuals suspected of having ties to the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia), according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

“As part of operations against the IS terrorist organization conducted across 18 provinces, 54 individuals have been detained,” Yerlikaya announced on X (formerly Twitter).

The detainees are accused of membership in IS, aiding and harboring its fighters, and promoting the group through social media. Criminal cases have been initiated by prosecutors following the detentions, and 20 suspects have been formally arrested by court order.

Turkish intelligence agencies regularly carry out operations against IS. Over the past year, more than 3,000 people have been detained in Turkey on suspicion of connections to the terrorist group, according to Interior Ministry data.
