Russia plays a key role in resolving the situation in Syria, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed.

"Russia is a key country in terms of normalizing life in Syria," Peskov told reporters on the sidelines of a presidential press conference.

The Kremlin spokesman recalled Russia's key role in helping the Syrian people liberate themselves from international terrorism. "And Russia continues, together with the UN and under the auspices of [that organization], to make every possible effort to bring about a political settlement in Syria as well," Peskov said.

Being asked about a solution to the Kurdish issue in Syria, the presidential spokesman noted that the ongoing work in that country "will also find the most favorable regime" for the Kurds "within the framework of an indivisible state."
