08 September

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to Tajikistan’s leader Emomali Rahmon on the occasion of the republic’s upcoming 34th Independence Day. In his message, he highlighted the successful development of strategic partnership and allied ties between the two countries, Rahmon’s press service reported.

“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the national holiday—Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. […] Russia–Tajikistan relations are progressing successfully in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. Our states cooperate fruitfully across various areas and coordinate efforts within the CIS, the CSTO (the Collective Security Treaty Organization), the SCO (the Shanghai Cooperation Organization), the UN, and other multilateral bodies,” the message posted on the Tajik leader’s website said.

“I am confident that we will continue to consistently expand constructive bilateral ties—for the benefit of our friendly peoples and in the interests of security and stability in the Central Asian region,” the greeting emphasized.

Putin also noted that Tajikistan has achieved significant success in the social and economic spheres and enjoys well-deserved standing on the world stage. He wished Rahmon good health and success, and all citizens of the republic peace and prosperity.

Independence Day is marked in Tajikistan on September 9. Alongside Putin, congratulatory messages to Rahmon were sent, in particular, by China’s President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump, the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, the President of Iran, the kings of the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, and the Emperor of Japan.
