Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the Russians for approving the amendments to the Constitution.

"I want to express my gratitude to the citizens of Russia, I want to say 'thank you very much' for your support and trust," the head of state said, opening the meeting of the Pobeda organizing committee.

"I have repeatedly spoken about the need to adopt amendments to the basic law of the country - the Constitution. Here we have the improvement of the political system, the consolidation of social guarantees, and the strengthening of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and our spiritual, historical, and moral values that bind generations together," Putin said. But, in his opinion, "we must not forget about one more thing."

The head of state believes that the country is still going through the formation stage, so it needs stability. "Very little time has passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union by historical standards, and modern Russia is certainly still in the process of formation," Putin stated. In his opinion, "this applies to all aspects of life: both the political system and the economy." "We are still very vulnerable in many ways, we have done a lot, as people say, on a living thread, we need internal stability and time to strengthen the country and all its institutions," the President is sure.

"And so once again thank you to those who supported the amendments," he said to the Russians.

At the same time, the President said that he understood those who voted against the amendments to the Constitution. "I also understand those of our citizens who voted against [amendments to the Constitution]," the head of state said. "We still have a lot of unresolved problems, it's true, people often face injustice, callousness, indifference, many people still live hard and difficult, and we, the country's leadership, often think that we are doing everything possible," the President said. "But no, life shows something else, life shows that we often do not do enough, and we must act faster, more accurately, more organized, more effectively," Putin stressed.

The President is sure that the authorities need to justify the trust of citizens who supported the amendments to the Constitution. "The results of the all-Russian vote show that the vast majority of Russian citizens believe that we can work better, and the so - called expanded government - from municipalities to the President - is obliged to do everything to justify this high trust of people," the head of state said.

"Once again, I appeal to the citizens of Russia and want to express my sincere gratitude for your support. Thanks!"  Putin thanked for the third time.
