President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon considers it necessary to increase the efficiency of cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries in the political, military and military-technical spheres. He said this on Monday in Dushanbe at a meeting with CSTO Secretary-General Imangali Tasmagambetov.
"The leader of the nation stressed the relevance of increasing interaction in the political dimension, expanding the international activities of the CSTO, increasing the effectiveness of military, military-technical and military-economic cooperation," the press service of the president of Tajikistan said in a statement.
According to the press service, the leader of Tajikistan emphasized the need to strengthen comprehensive work within the CSTO to combat terrorism and radicalism.
The sides also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan.
Last October, Rahmon and former CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas, noting the difficult situation in the region, called for increased protection of the Tajik-Afghan border.
