05 March 2021

The Russian vaccine Sputnik V against the coronavirus has been registered in Iraq, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced on Thursday.

"The RDIF announces the registration of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Iraq. Iraq has become the 45th country where the Sputnik V vaccine has been registered. The registration of the drug was carried out in the framework of emergency use authorization," the report says.

"Sputnik V is one of the top three vaccines against coronavirus in terms of the number of approvals received from state regulators. The efficacy of the drug is 91.6%, which is confirmed by the publication of data in one of the world's oldest medical journals, The Lancet. Sputnik V is one of only three drugs in the world with efficacy greater than 90%. The vaccine provides complete protection against severe cases of coronavirus, the RDIF noted.
