Russia and Tajikistan intend to expand cooperation in health care and education

The Russian government has approved a draft agreement on the establishment of joint general education institutions in five cities of Tajikistan, where education will be conducted in Russian. The corresponding order was signed by Russian prime minister Mikhail Mishustin, the document was published on Monday on the official portal of legal information.


"To approve the draft agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on creation and conditions of functioning of joint educational institutions in Dushanbe, Kulyab, Khujand, Bokhtar and Tursunzade in the Republic of Tajikistan, providing education in Russian," the document says, "It was agreed with the Russian foreign ministry and other interested federal executive authorities and worked out with the Tajikistan side," the document reads. 


The Russian ministry of education was instructed to negotiate with the Tajik side and upon agreement to sign the agreement on behalf of the Russian government, allowing for changes in the draft that are not of a fundamental nature.


Another document signed by Mishustin concerns cooperation in healthcare, medical education and science. The Russian cabinet of ministers approved a draft agreement between the governments of Russia and Tajikistan on cooperation in these spheres that had been previously worked out with Tajikistan.


It is planned to conduct such interaction on the basis of equality, mutual interests and in accordance with the laws of the two countries. At the same time, the parties intend to encourage and support direct contacts between specialized organizations, cooperate on topical issues, and exchange specialists, teachers and students.


Creation of schools


As reported earlier by the information and press department of the foreign ministry of Tajikistan, more than 20 documents between the two countries will be signed as a result of the official visit of Russian president Vladimir Putin to Dushanbe. According to the ministry, the Russian leader will pay an official visit to Tajikistan on September 15 at the invitation of president Emomali Rahmon.


The foreign ministry specified that the leaders of the two countries will take part in the ceremony of laying the foundation of five schools with instruction in the Russian language in the cities of Dushanbe, Khujand, Kulyab, Bokhtar and Tursunzade, which will be held online.


The Kremlin press service has not yet announced the dates of Putin's visit to Dushanbe.
