Russia strengthens military base in Tajikistan

A batch of new Kornet anti-tank missile systems has been supplied to the Russian military base in Tajikistan, the press service of the Central Military District (CMD) reported.


"The 201st Russian military base stationed in Tajikistan has received a batch of modern Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATMS). The new systems are in service with artillery units of the Russian compound," the report said.


It is specified that the Kornet anti-tank missile systems are designed to defeat enemy armored vehicles and aerial targets, including helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. The missile is guided to the target by a laser beam. The maximum range is 5.5 kilometers, the minimum range is 100 meters.


The 201st Military Base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside Russia. It is located in two cities, Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, air defense and communication units.
