Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met Wednesday with a delegation of the Ansar Allah Houthi movement led by Mohammed Abdel Salam to discuss the task of restarting an inclusive inter-Yemeni dialogue under the auspices of the UN, as well as prospects for achieving a comprehensive peaceful settlement of the military-political crisis in the republic.

"The extensive conversation focused on the prospects for achieving a comprehensive peaceful solution to the acute military-political crisis in Yemen, which is now in its eighth year. The task of restarting an inclusive inter-Yemeni dialogue under the auspices of the UN was discussed in detail. They emphasized the importance of prolongation of the ceasefire achieved on August 2 and also measures aimed at improvement of the humanitarian situation of the Yemen population," reads the statement of the Russian MFA.

The ministry pointed out that the Russian side reiterated its "consistent policy of maintaining active contacts with all the leading political forces of Yemen" in order to encourage them to abandon armed confrontation and start a constructive dialogue aimed at resolution of problems accumulated on the basis of national consensus.
