Russia wishes successful work to the new government of Lebanon and looks forward to the further development of traditionally friendly bilateral ties. This was stated in a commentary of the Russian foreign ministry issued on Tuesday.

"Moscow wishes success in the work of the new Lebanese government and counts on the further progressive development of the whole complex of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Lebanon," the diplomatic office said.

The ministry pointed out that the Lebanese cabinet faces difficult tasks. "The head of the government and ministers will have to make great efforts to lead Lebanon out of the difficult financial and economic situation and to return the country to normal life. Also on the agenda is the creation of conditions for holding the next parliamentary elections on time - next May," the Russian MFA pointed out.

On Monday, the national salvation government led by prime minister Najib Mikati won a vote of confidence in the Lebanese parliament.
