Western countries are using the so-called chemical dossier to exert pressure on Syria and justify direct acts of aggression. Bashar Jaafari, Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN, said this when he spoke at a Security Council meeting on the destruction of Syrian chemical weapons.
"Syria has sought constructive cooperation with UN mechanisms, with the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)," he said. - "As a result of this cooperation, Syria has disposed of all chemical weapons stockpiles, materials and means of production. The Syrian Arab Republic has not possessed chemical weapons since 2014, and this was confirmed in a briefing to the UN Security Council in June 2014. This has also been confirmed in numerous reports by the UN and other organizations, but some Western governments have chosen to deny this established fact, using the so-called chemical dossier as a tool to pressure Syria, and fabricating accusations aimed at justifying direct acts of aggression against Syria."
Earlier, during the Security Council meeting, Richard Mills, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, demanded to "send a tough message" to Syria at the upcoming Conference of States Parties to the OPCW in April.
