UN Court Orders Israel to Allow UNRWA Access for Gaza Aid Delivery

22 October

The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel must permit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza's population. Court President Yuji Iwasawa announced the decision, stating that "Israel is obligated to accept and facilitate assistance programs provided by the UN and its agencies, including UNRWA."

The ruling came during a session where Iwasawa read the court's advisory opinion, following hearings held from April 28 to May 2 regarding Israel's legal obligations concerning UN operations in Palestinian territories. Israel did not send a delegation to the proceedings, characterizing the process as "biased."
