Militants of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (banned in Russia) are planning to stage a chemical attack in Idlib in order to accuse the Syrian government forces of using poisonous substances against civilians, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, told reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, the Russian Center received information about the preparation by militants of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham of a provocation in the southern part of Idlib province using poisonous substances.

"According to the sources, the terrorists, accompanied by representatives of the pseudo-humanitarian organization White Helmets, delivered four containers of poisonous substances, presumably chlorine, in a truck near the town of Ariha. "Thus, according to the information available, the militants are planning to stage a 'chemical attack' for a subsequent accusation of the Syrian government forces of using poisonous substances against civilians," said Kulit.

He stressed that the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties called on the commanders of the illegal armed groups to abandon armed provocations and take the path of a peaceful resolution of the situation in the areas under their control.
