Egypt to buy 12 Russian Sukhoi Superjet-100

10 October 2019

Russia and Egypt resumed negotiations on the supply of Sukhoi Superjet-100.

During the visit to Cairo of the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, the talks were about 12 aircraft.

This issue, he said, along with the issue of the resumption of charter flights to the Arab Republic, was discussed at a meeting with the President of Egypt.

"Initially, when we signed the Memorandum (on the supply of aircrafts-ed.), talking about this (full resumption of direct flights-ed.)  without providing the routing grid was quite difficult. I think that the issue will somehow be solved. The MS-21 is not in an intensive phase, we discussed the SSJ100, some regions get a good load (for the Egyptian side - ed.)", - RIA Novosti quotes Manturov.

The first negotiations on the supply of 12 SSJ100 aircraft were held in 2016, but they did not lead to results.
