Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova believes that the negative coverage of the success of Russian medicine by Western countries, including in the development of a coronavirus vaccine, is taking on an unprecedented scale,

She recalled that earlier it was possible to observe accusations against Russia for allegedly spreading misinformation about the coronavirus.

"In addition, there was a sharply negative coverage of the success of our medicine, including in the development of a coronavirus vaccine. Now all this is taking on an unprecedented scale. Instead of a scientific discussion, maybe even a healthy polemic, but thorough, based on facts, we see custom - made campaigns in the spirit of, I don't know what years of the XX century, " Zakharova said at the round table "After the pandemic: information wars in the modern world. Conclusions for Russia".

According to her, all Moscow's calls to ensure freedom of speech in the context of the pandemic in a balanced way, and not at the expense of public safety and health of citizens, were ignored by Western countries.

The Russian Ministry of Health previously registered the world's first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by the Gamalei research center and produced jointly with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. It was named Sputnik V. Another Russian vaccine against the coronavirus, "EpiVakCorona" developed in the State research center of virology and biotechnology "Vector" of Rospotrebnadzor, tested.
