Iran Condemns Macron's Remarks on Tehran’s Role in Ukraine Conflict

09 January

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, criticized French President Emmanuel Macron's comments about Iran’s alleged involvement in the Ukraine conflict.

Reaffirming Iran’s principled stance on the need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis, Baghaei dismissed the claims of interference as "irresponsible and a distortion of facts." He argued that such accusations are attempts to divert attention from the destabilizing role played by certain countries whose actions undermine global stability.

Baghaei also rejected Macron's remarks concerning Iran's nuclear program, stressing that Tehran's activities in this area are conducted within the framework of international law and under the strict oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

On January 6, Macron described Iran as a "key strategic challenge" for France, Europe, and the Middle East, citing security concerns. He accused Tehran of allegedly contributing to the Ukraine conflict and claimed that the country’s nuclear program is nearing a "point of no return."

Both Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly denied allegations of Iranian arms being supplied to Russia for use in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has emphasized that Russia and Iran are committed to strengthening their cooperation across all sectors, including sensitive areas.
