Iran Criticizes Western Objections to Cooperation with Russia

28 November

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Western nations lack the moral authority to criticize Iran's security cooperation with Russia, particularly given their silence on Israel's actions in Gaza. Speaking to The Guardian, Araghchi emphasized that the West’s own policies undermine its credibility in making such complaints.

"They are in no moral or political position to object to our cooperation with Russia," Araghchi remarked. "At the same time, they supply advanced weapons to Israel, enabling the killing of Palestinians."

Araghchi clarified that Iran has not provided ballistic missiles to Russia and stressed that its military collaboration with Moscow is entirely legitimate.

On Hezbollah and Lebanon

Addressing the ceasefire in Lebanon, Araghchi affirmed that Iran is prepared to continue supplying weapons to Hezbollah if requested. He asserted that Israel agreed to halt hostilities primarily because it was unable to achieve its objectives.

Gaza and the Challenges of a Ceasefire

Araghchi expressed skepticism about the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza, arguing that Israel's reluctance stems from the implications of such a move. "Israel cannot agree to a ceasefire with [the Palestinian group] Hamas, as it would signify a complete failure for them," he said.

"They entered Gaza to destroy Hamas, yet now they are being forced to negotiate with Hamas. This indicates they have not achieved their goals, making a Gaza ceasefire a highly complex issue," Araghchi concluded.
