The Iranian government has announced a planned 200% increase in military spending in its new budget proposal for the 1404 Iranian calendar year, which begins on March 20, 2025, in the Gregorian calendar. This announcement was made by government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani.

“The budget proposal, which aims to cover all national expenditures, has also prioritized meeting the country’s defense needs. Accordingly, we have seen a substantial increase in the military budget—up by 200%,” Mohajerani stated at a press conference, which was broadcast live by IRIB.
