Lavrov Meets with President Mirziyoyev in Samarkand

During his official visit to Samarkand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to TASS.

 

The talks were expected to cover a range of pressing issues on the bilateral and international agenda, including preparations for commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

 

Lavrov’s two-day visit also included a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, where the two discussed trade and economic cooperation. Saidov confirmed that President Mirziyoyev will take part in the Victory Day commemorations in Moscow.

 

Earlier in the day, Lavrov laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame and the “Grieving Mother” memorial in honor of the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
