Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov honored the memory of those who fell during the Great Patriotic War by laying a wreath at the Eternal Flame memorial in Samarkand. The floral arrangement, made of red roses and wrapped in a ribbon bearing the colors of the Russian flag, was placed near the monument known as the “Grieving Mother.” The ceremony took place to the solemn accompaniment of a military orchestra.
Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also participated in the tribute.
Lavrov is visiting Samarkand on an official two-day trip. His schedule includes a meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and extended talks with Saidov. Key topics on the agenda include strengthening bilateral ties, deepening Eurasian integration, and preparing for the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
