Medvedev says "hellish sanctions" of the West failed

31 January 2023

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes that the "hellish sanctions" of the West have failed to undermine the stability of the Russian economy. He wrote this on Tuesday in his Telegram channel.

"No way the enemy countries have the courage to admit that their 'hellish' sanctions have failed miserably. They don't work," he stated. Medvedev added that the vast majority of industrial products and consumer goods have been replaced by Russian, and the missing ones - by Asian brands. "At the same time, even the IMF predicts economic growth in Russia this year," the politician added.

At the same time, Medvedev noted, parallel imports also work, with the help of which Russian consumers "get the same Western brands, and their owners get nothing." "So it's the same as always: the Americans make money on a humiliated Europe. A crushed Europe endures and loses money," he concluded.

According to him, adopting rules for the use of Western intellectual property without a license could be the answer to the sanctions. "All that remains is to adopt rules on the use of their (Western - TASS) intellectual property. Without any licenses and payment of royalties. This, among other things, will be our retaliatory sanctions on their property rights. On everything from movies to industrial software," he wrote.

Medvedev thanked "those who have developed various programs for license-free use of their expensive intellectual products," calling it "pirated use in the mode of personal sanctions." "La guerre comme la guerre ("at war as at war" - TASS)," Medvedev concluded.
