Mohammed Salah Tekaya: Cooperation with Russia Is of Great Importance to Us

16 May

Mohamed Salah Tekaya, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), spoke at the plenary session of the Group of Strategic Vision  “Russia – Islamic World” on the topic “The Experience of Russia and the Islamic Wolrd in Youth Policy: Common Challenges and Joint Actions.”

“Cooperation with Russia is of great importance to us,” Mr. Tekaya stated, recalling Russia’s status as an observer in the OIC. He emphasized that the Group has become a key platform for strengthening dialogue between Russia and the Islamic world—one that aspires to a global order based on sovereign equality, non-interference, and respect for territorial integrity.

“The OIC supports the efforts of Tatarstan in developing youth programs. The Youth Summit in Kazan is a vital initiative to combat radicalization through education, sports, and economic opportunities,” the Deputy-Secretary General said. According to him, addressing the root causes of extremism—such as poverty and underdevelopment—is essential. The OIC also highlights the family’s role as the foundation of a healthy society.

“We are committed to enhancing cooperation between the Islamic world and Russia in all areas, and we wish this forum great success,” Mr. Tekaya concluded.
