This year, mosques in Kazakhstan will not hold a festive prayer on the occasion of the end of the Holy month of Ramadan. According to the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic, this decision was taken in connection with the current restrictive measures aimed at countering the spread of the coronavirus.
"In Islam, any holiday begins with worship. According to Sharia, it is mandatory to perform Ait namaz (holiday prayer-ed.) with the Jamaat (with other believers - ed.). However, this year Ait namaz will not be held in mosques due to the quarantine situation in the country," the message on the website reads.
Taking into account the fact that the holiday Ait namaz is not allowed to perform alone, every believer on the holiday in the morning, as added in the Organization, can perform the additional Duha prayer at home.
Earlier, the Religious Board suggested the faithful to spend the Night of Power and Predestination ( Lailatul-qadr), which is sacred for Muslims, at home on May 20.
In Kazakhstan, according to the latest data, more than 7.5 thousand cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed, including 35 fatal cases.
