A similar statement following an emergency meeting in Cairo at the end of last week was made by the Foreign Ministers of the Arab League, who stressed that the "deal of the century" does not take into account the interests of the Palestinian people.
US President Donald Trump announced the details of the "deal of the century" on January 28. According to the document, Jerusalem is recognized as the unified and indivisible capital of Israel, and Palestine becomes a fully independent, but demilitarized state, virtually devoid of control over its borders.
As the future capital of Palestine, the plan proposes the village of Abu Dis in the Eastern suburbs of Jerusalem, located behind a security fence.
