Russia relies on the opinion of the international community, in particular the UN, when deciding whether to exclude the Taliban (banned in Russia) from the list of terrorist organizations. There cannot be a mechanism of its own, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"Yesterday [at a plenary session of the Valdai club], the president answered this question and said that since this is a decision of the United Nations, Russia cannot have a separate mechanism," Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman also confirmed that Russia relies on the opinion of international political institutions on this issue. "Yes, the president clarified all this yesterday," Peskov concluded in response to a related question.
