President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed an initiative to study the experience of Kazan in order to use it for the arrangement of the embankment in Astana. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the president of Kazakhstan at a meeting on the development of the capital.
"Now the Esil embankment is not given due attention. The experience of Kazan may be studied in this matter. The streets, parks and embankment of this city are very beautiful and attractive. Our goal is to make the capital comfortable for our citizens and foreign guests at any time of the year, to improve the image of Astana as much as possible," Tokayev said.
According to him, the capital should become a comfortable city for living. "First of all, it is necessary to revise the concept of urban environment development. Today the city lacks parks and comfortable places for citizens to walk and relax," the president explained.
Tokayev also focused on the issue of landscaping the city. "I instruct the akimat (local administration - TASS) within three years to bring the planting of perennial plants to 50%. I set a task - in five years the capital should become a garden city," instructed the head of state.
