Putin considers the coordination of Moscow and Riyadh an essential element of security in the Middle East

14 October 2019

Coordination between Moscow and Riyadh is an essential element of providing security in the Middle East and North Africa, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today at talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

"We consider Russian-Saudi coordination as an essential element in providing security in the Middle East and North Africa. I am convinced that without the participation of your country, it is hardly possible to achieve a just and long-term settlement of a regional problem", - the Russian leader said, in particular, addressing the Saudi monarch.

The talks with the Saudi authorities will focus on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, building up multi-dimensional cooperation in various areas, such as energy, agriculture, industry and military-technical cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Following the visit, about 30 bilateral documents will be signed, including both interagency and commercial agreements.
