Russia and Brunei discuss cooperation prospects

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov held consultations with the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Erywan Yusof in Bandar Seri Begawan.


Also, Deputy Foreign Minister was received by the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, who confirmed the development of friendly relations with the Russian Federation.


"The state and prospects of Russian-Brunei relations in priority areas were discussed in detail. The parties confirmed the closeness of approaches to the majority of topical regional and international topics," reads the message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.


They also agreed to continue a regular dialogue between the foreign ministries.


Brunei is a member-state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation located in Southeast Asia.


The official religion is Islam (67% of the population). There are also Buddhists (13%), Christians (10%) and representatives of other faiths, mainly followers of aboriginal cults (10%).
