Russia and Saudi Arabia step up cooperation in agriculture

14 October 2019

Russia and Saudi Arabia have the potential to increase cooperation in the field of agriculture. Trade turnover in this area can be increased to 1.2 billion dollars a year.

Alexander Novak, Russia’s Energy Minister said at the Russian-Saudi investment forum, organized on the sidelines of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Saudi Arabia.

"We are engaged in an active dialogue in all sectors and we will make every effort to further develop Russian-Saudi cooperation. I would also like to note the great potential for the development of our cooperation in the field of agriculture. In 2018, the turnover of agricultural products amounted to about half a billion us dollars - it is a half of our trade turnover. And here we see a huge potential and believe that in the near future it will be possible to reach the level of trade turnover up to 1.2 billion dollars, which means to increase it multiples of today's level", - Novak was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
